Parents interested in educating his or her child at home may do so by meeting the requirements of Ohio law to home school. Parents or guardians who home school decide how to teach their daughter or son. They select the curriculum and educational materials and take responsibility for educating their child. There is no state financial assistance for families who choose this option.
Therefore, your Home Schooling Notification may be sent directly to George Willis since he works for the Geauga County Superintendent, however feel free to send your intent to your district Superintendent. Your Excusal from public education will be signed by your District Superintendent. Doing so will take a bit more time and possibly some loss of documentation when the Superintendent’s office forwards our documentation to me. I would ask you to send your Notification, to me via snail mail to the address below.
You can send or deliver the materials to:
George P. Willis, M.Ed.
Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve
8615 Cedar Road
Chesterland, OH, 44026
440-729-5915
As most homeschool families in Geauga County are aware my position is part-time. I am randomly in and out of the office, trying to be in the office every Monday. Currently, due to the Corona Virus issue we are all dealing with, I am doing the majority of my work from home. Therefore your best means of communication with me is via email: [email protected] I will be returning phone calls on those days I am in the office.
As a courtesy if you are not going to homeschool your children this year please notify me so your name can be removed from the home schooling list so I do not continue to bother you for your intent to homeschool.
