Enacted in 1972, Title IX is a Federal civil-rights law that protects everyone from being discriminated against on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities. Although Title IX has improved educational access for millions of students, sexual harassment continues to be a widespread problem. In May of 2020, the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) updated its guidelines for how schools must respond to sexual-harassment claims. The guidelines, which are effective August 14, 2020, apply to all types of sexual harassment, including student against student, student against school employee, school employee against school employee, and school employee against student. One of the new guidelines most important changes is that all employees, without delay, must report possible acts of sexual harassment to a Title IX coordinator. This course will: define sexual harassment; explain schools’ obligations with regards to sexual-harassment claims under Title IX; and outline Title IX investigative procedures.

Public Records Request
The Governing Board of the ESC of the Western Reserve (ESC) recognizes that from time to time
the public may have questions regarding the operations of the ESC. Public records requests may be
submitted to our offices via the below methods.

Public Records Officer: L. Greg Slemons, Treasurer: [email protected]
Via Fax: 440-350-2566
Via Phone: 440-350-2563 ext. 731

How to Request Records in Ohio
You can make your request in any way you choose; via fax, phone, mail, email, online, or in person. Make your request as specific as possible so the public records officer can find the record. You are not required to provide a written request, although you may want to do so to better clarify your request. A written request would help the ESC better identify and locate the records and the public records officer may ask that you write the request for better clarification. However, the public records officer must inform you that a written request is not required by law. See
Ohio Rev. Code §149.43(B)(5). Note that the law only applies to existing documents. The law does not require the agency to create a record in response to your request.

Time limits
Ohio law does not specify any exact time limits in which the ESC must respond to your request. However, upon receipt of your request, the office must "promptly"; prepare the records and make them available for inspection. If you have requested copies of the records, these copies shall be provided to you "within a reasonable period of time".
