Description:
                                                     Interactive SEL PD Series

This 6 part series will allow the participants to discuss with colleagues and therapeutic staff
typical classroom behaviors and how to intervene using trauma informed strategies. The series
will begin with an overview of trauma informed care. Subsequent sessions will begin with a
video of some of the behaviors teachers deal with on a daily basis. Each session will be
facilitated by a least 2 therapeutic staff from various agencies who will then lead a discussion on
appropriate interventions. It is not necessary to attend all sessions in the series however; the first
session will lay the foundation for those that follow. Teachers are encouraged to share what has
worked in their classrooms as well. Sessions will be recorded and placed on the ESCWR
website as a resource.

Session 4: When There is Just No Ignoring the Student That’s Snoring

Sleeping in class is one of the most challenging problems faced by teachers. It can be caused by sensitive issues such as unhealthy habits, a medical problem or mental health issue. Learn how trauma informed interventions may lead to a successful resolution and the well being of the student.
