Who: Secondary Teachers, Curriculum Leaders & Administrators, Grades 4 and Above
What: Using the IES Practice Guide, Improving Adolescent Literacy: Effective Classroom and Intervention Practices, participants will learn strategies that meet the 5 recommendations in the guide:
Explicit vocabulary instruction
Direct and explicit comprehension strategy instruction
Extended discussion of text meaning and interpretation
Increase student motivation and engagement
Individualized interventions for struggling readers
Participants will come away with improved understanding of adolescent literacy, innovative tier 1 teaching strategies and effective models of MTSS at the middle and high school levels.
