Superintendent's Message

Hello and welcome to the Lake County Educational Service Center website.

The Lake County ESC is looking to the future of education and services.  We provide a level of service in our selected areas that is unparalleled.  Through the support and guidance of the Lake County ESC Governing Board, we have expanded and excelled in a wide variety of areas.  Primary to our success is our relationship with school districts in our county as well as a strong partnership with many schools and educational service centers surrounding Lake County.  In addition to the school district partnerships, we recognize that the vision of many leaders and organizations in our region is to grow our local economy and the importance of working with the service center as a convener is paramount to that vision.  We work closely with local, state, and federal politicians, local agencies, such as Lake County Department of Job and Family Services, Lake County ADAHMS Board, Lake County General Health District, Lake County Juvenile Court, Lake County Port and Economic Development Authority, Alliance for Working Together, United Way of Lake County, the Cleveland Foundation, the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, and our local higher education institutions of Lakeland Community College, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Lake Erie College, and others.

We are firm believers in the importance of a strong start for our youngest learners.  The research is clear that if the learning process starts early, we can reduce the likelihood of remediation, low test scores, discipline, low attendance, and most importantly we can improve the likeliness of a successful transition to a career.   Our early childhood program serves students all across our county and is continually recognized as a premier provider.  We also run programs for special needs students, and adults.  These programs are a vital link and transition from our K-12 program to the adult workforce.  We know and understand these clients and are proud to provide this service.

We also are proud of our team of consultants and State Support Team that serve as an arm of the Ohio Department of Education.

When you work with any of our employees, you will find that they are all service driven, reliable, and tireless in their efforts to help any way they can.  Without this talented group of people, none of this is possible.

This year we continue to assist districts with special projects and moving STEM, including their specific needs, forward in line with our county-wide effort.  Our fiscal office has built a team that can serve as grant managers or in other areas that districts can use to assist them in implementation of special projects or grants.

At the end of the day, we serve in many capacities, all of which are to improve the lives of our students, support our districts, and enrich Lake County and our region.  Please enjoy our new website, and call me anytime.
