12-5-14 High Technology Opportunities

On December 5, 2014 Steele Mansion was the host location for the "High Technology Opportunities and the Knowledge Economy" event. Speakers came from Cleveland State University, Akron Computer Guild, Lakeland Community College, Auburn Coding, and Code.org. The Lake County Educational Service Center and the Lake County Port and Economic Development Authority were happy with the response and attendance of 65 people.

10-29-14 Design Thinking Workshop

On October 29 and 30, 2014 educators gathered together to learn more about the Design Thinking Process facilitated by Jan Morrison, President and CEO of the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES).  Participants explored and utilized the Design Thinking Process through a hands-on project. The workshop was held over the course of two days at Auburn Career Center and  at Painesville City Board Office.  Follow-up visits have been planned to see the teachers in action in their local schools.  

10-9-14 LEGOS Robotics Workshop

LEGO Education EV3 held a workshop at the Lake County ESC on October 9, 2014.  The workshop was designed for educators of Grades 4 and above who were interested in starting robotics in their classroom.  Educators built their own simple robotic machines and then programmed autonomous robots using LEGO Mindstorms Education and software.  There were 24 teachers in attendance.
